So at our last art gathering we were each given a witch hat to alter mine has been sitting around neglected ever since. Today I got my homework caught up for the week and a good chunk of boxes cut for my friend Deb's wedding in a few weeks, so I treated myself to a little while of play. So far this is simply what I have done. I started with a base coat of copper paint then I sprayed with slate glimmer mist. I painted the brim copper then black and painted bubble wrap with copper paint. I decided to add seam binding (which is not permeant yet and I added a bling bat. It needs some more work but I haven't figured out what it needs yet and I'm really not sure when I can play again. I'm swamped with work and homework lately. My life consist of work, class, homework, eat sleep start all over again. Speaking of sleep that what about to do. Till next time.

Last weekend
I treated myself to a captured moments crop it will probably be the last one for awhile seeing that school has taken over every aspect of my life. I really can't wait for this semester to be over because its more stuff that I have to learn then stuff I want to learn.
So here are the cards I made while at the crop. I truly enjoyed the company, food and creative time. Of course felt a little guilty because I should have been doing some school work, but I have to find some balance between school, work and creative time at some point I'm sure ill get there.

A trip to target
Well I went to target to purchase binders for my classes to get myself organized. I tried one of those portfolio folder things and Found out it didn't work for me. So back to binders I go. Of course I figured I would check the back to school clearance for the binders cause why pay full price. Of course that didn't quite work out cause there was no nice or cute binders left so I sadly paid full price but they are such pretty colors (pink and turquoise). But while searching the clearance section I found pentel arts color pens for $10.48 they were $14.99 so not huge saving but I needed markers for my crafting stuff anyway. I would like to purchase all of the close to my heart markers but it will take me awhile to purchase them all, so these will work in the mean time. Of course having them in my hand made me want to color. I know I have a fairy coloring book somewhere so I searched for it last night but no luck instead I found one of my old sketch books so I settled for doodling. So the other photos are the result of my doodling.

All work and no play...
They say all work and no play makes for a dull girl or something like that so today I took a break for my nephew's birthday party. I bounced in the bouncy bounce with him. It was a ball, but it hurts now. I injured my knee a couple weeks ago and have been wearing a knee brace ever since. After the party ended I set to work in the craft room and got my second card for stamp club planned out. I used La Belle Via paper, Kraft paper, artiste cricut cartridge and art philosophy cricut cartridge, the stamps are from card word puzzle and Just for You...

No playing
Since the last post I haven't been able to play and when I do I feel kinda guilty cause I have school work and cleaning to do. I'm hoping soon even if it just a card or two. I hope that everyone is doing well.
Just a little message to someone who probably doesn't even read my blog anymore. I miss you. Just thought you should know.

Took a break from school work..
So today I took a little break from school work to plan out my next card club class. I talked to the ladies about what they wanted to do as far as themes for cards and we decided that now until December we will do 1 Christmas card a month. Of course there is only one Christmas themed paper pack this catalog so I knew I had to get creative. I purchased my favorite paper pack from the current catalog La Belle Vie it's right up my alley. Vintage, French themed, and beautiful. I new that pairing it with the new glitter trim (self adhesive glitter trim), sliver glitter glitz and our chipboard snowflakes would make a beautiful Christmas card. It was a little challenging because I personally go with red, green and blue and brown for my Christmas cards, but I do love a challenge. And I think that I did pretty well. Now I'm thinking what other paper packs with non traditional colors can I make into Christmas cards. I have at least 1 more card to plan and a few detail to finish with this one. By the was the card itself and the slide off piece are from the Artiste cartridge I love so much. They are cut at 4 3/4and will fit in a 5x5 envelope.

My Vacation
Last week we packed up our motorcycles and head to our annual Red Knights convention in Gettysburg, PA. The trip there had a few bumps in the road (which included Our bike almost going through the side of the enclosed trailer thank God no damage to the custom paint) but we all made it safely. I think the most amazing thing to me was riding literally through the farmland that was the center of the battleground it was like taking a trip back in time aside from the monuments throughout the land. It was extremely interesting. We had a week of history, ghost stories and lots of laughs. We meet our brothers and sisters from chapters from all over the US, Canada, Sweden, Austria and Belgium. I enjoyed almost every minute of the trip. Everyday i grow more and more thankful for this group and the family that i have because of it. I heard the following poem at least twice during the course of last week. It hits home. Probably not in the way that it hits a firefighter, but being the daughter, girlfriend and sister to firefighters it hits in its own way. I guess I take for granted and sometimes forget that there is always a chance that I could get that phone call that every person dreads.
In Honor
Brother when you weep for me
Remember that it was meant to be
Lay me down and when you leave
Remember I'll be at your sleeve
In every dark and choking hall
I'll be there as you slowly crawl
On every roof in driving snow
I'll hold your coat and you will know
In cellars hot with searing heat
At windows where a gate you meet
In closets where young children hide
You know I'll be there at your side
The house from which I now respond
Is overstaffed with heroes gone
Men who answered one last bell
Did the job and did it well
As firemen we understand
That death's a card dealt in our hand
A card we hope we never play
But one we hold there anyway
That card is something we ignore
As we crawl across a weakened floor
For we know that we're the only prayer
For anyone that might be there
So remember as you wipe your tears
The joy I knew throughout the years
As I did the job I loved to do
I pray that thought will see you through
I could never imagine hearing that something happened to one of my loved ones when they were saving some else's life. I would be proud but
