Card workshops

Over the weekend I completed two of the three card workshops in the Close to my Heart Wishes book (which is now retired).  The first workshop used 4 pieces of card stock and two pieces of pattern paper and 20 blank cards.  In the end I ended up creating 20 cards!  The second workshop took 2 pieces of card stock and 1 piece of pattern paper.  I completed 16 cards for a total of 36 cards.  I love when I can just sit down cut, stamp and glue! Simple and easy!
Workshop 1(minus one picture I forgot to take I'll share it later)

Punch happy

Like I said yesterday I am a little punch happy.  It was inspired by my recent purchase of the close to my heart 1-1/4 inch circle punch.  The first thing I started doing was punching circles and layering them to create a background like in this card using last month's stamp of the month set.
So of course I got bored of this quickly and started looking on line for other punch inspiration.  I found a cute video which shows you how to create a bunny using circle punches.  All you need is 3 different circle punches in various sizes.  I used the 1-1/4 inch circle punch, a 2 inch circle punch and a 5/8 inch circle punch.  The following video is what I used for inspiration.
Here is my card using the bunny

Then I got into the Saint Patrick's Day mood.  I bought this cute stamp at Joann's for a dollar that says "Keep Calm and Shamrock on" too cute right?  I had to use my purchase so I remembered I can make Shamrocks out of heart punches! I'm a genius...not really I saw it somewhere else I'm not sure where.  For the stem I used an old CTMH stamp that was a stem.  I stamped it on the opposite side of the paper I was using so I could use it just as a cutting guideline. I think they came out cute.

New close to my heart product

I normally only buy the stuff to use for class, but I wanted to show the ladies some of the new and fun product we have that can be altered so I'm starting with our new 5x7 hinged tray it's going to be a fun little project I just need to find pictures to include before this months meeting. I also picked up some of our new cute pigment inks I'm loving them they stamp really well on our new muslin bags (which were last month's project).  My last tool purchase was our 1-1/4 inch circle punch.  I have been telling myself forever not to buy anymore punches cause I have a cricut, but you know what sometimes a punch is just easier. Especially if you only need one or two of a shape. By the way I'm loving it and have been a little creative with my punches as you will see in my next post. And my last purchase for the month was the Fast and Furious Stamp set.. It is too cute and with a nephew and another on the way its perfect for layouts and cards for them.  Sorry for my little Close to my heart rant.  Come back soon as I will posting in the next day or so about my punches and soon I will have this little tray done.

Card making weekend

I had some homework this weekend nothing major, so I goofed off a bit. My challenge was to use a whole 6x6 my minds eye paper pack because I have bought too many and hadn't used them. Sorry this post is picture heavy because I didn't just finish 1 6x6 stack I used a majority of a second one too. I used a variety of stamps from my favorite companies Close to my heart and unity stamp company. I love challenging myself and I think I should do this kind of self challenge more often. It gives me a goal to reach. So enjoy all the cards.

Birthday and sympathy cards

I spent today making birthday and sympathy cards. Most are similar to one another with slight changes. I liked to make a lot of cards in one sitting and sometimes it's just easier to make a bunch of a similar card. I used my minds eye paper pack (the 6x6 ones you get from just about everywhere now) and close to my heart stamps.
