October card club

This months card club is finally planned.... It's tomorrow I never wait this long, but homework and our annual pig roast put card class on the back seat. The Halloween card was planned a week or so ago, but the second card had to wait till this evening. I had a few ideas for it, but ended up doing this simple cardinal card. My more complex card idea will have to wait for next month.

Creepy creatures
Black tulle
Watercolor pencil
Martha Stewart's graveyard punch

Christmas card:
Partridge and pear paper pack
To you and yours stamp set
Kraft cardstock

Took a break from school work..

So today I took a little break from school work to plan out my next card club class. I talked to the ladies about what they wanted to do as far as themes for cards and we decided that now until December we will do 1 Christmas card a month. Of course there is only one Christmas themed paper pack this catalog so I knew I had to get creative. I purchased my favorite paper pack from the current catalog La Belle Vie it's right up my alley. Vintage, French themed, and beautiful. I new that pairing it with the new glitter trim (self adhesive glitter trim), sliver glitter glitz and our chipboard snowflakes would make a beautiful Christmas card. It was a little challenging because I personally go with red, green and blue and brown for my Christmas cards, but I do love a challenge. And I think that I did pretty well. Now I'm thinking what other paper packs with non traditional colors can I make into Christmas cards. I have at least 1 more card to plan and a few detail to finish with this one. By the was the card itself and the slide off piece are from the Artiste cartridge I love so much. They are cut at 4 3/4and will fit in a 5x5 envelope.

Decorating for Christmas

So I have been away....TOO LONG.  I'm going to try to be better in this coming year.  So anyway I'm starting to decorate for Christmas these pictures are from my craft room, which isn't difficult to decorate because I just have to pepper in some decorations with my already very fun vintage decor.  The vintage Christmas ornament boxes and ornaments came from an awesome find at a thrift store over the weekend.  I'm in love with them because they remind me of my great grandparents.  My mom had a few of their ornaments when I was younger but after many many years they have slowly disappeared.  So I just started my own collection. But because of my 1 year old nephew I felt they would be safer in bowls in my craft room up high where I knew his little hands wouldn't get them.  Better safe then sorry.  This has inspired me... I think I will be going to more thrift shops and antique shops in search of holiday decor in the near future.

some Christmas Crafting for my home

So I have been a little busy with some Christmas crafting.  Most of which are for presents so I can't share but this was done kind of for myself.  I sat down on the floor and start to make myself a paper chain like I did as a child, but the new and improve version of course.  I used my beautiful scrapbook papers.  So after two nights I have beautiful paper chain in my bathroom.  And then I starting doing some research on how I could make a paper wreath and decided to go for it.  I'm not very good with a hot glue gun I burned myself quite a few times before my Wreath was done.  But one old book, a foam wreath base, lots of hot glue and two nights later I had my beautiful book wreath.  I wanted to do something different with mine of course cause it seems everyone leaves their's oh natural.  I sprayed mine with glimmer mist and wiped some pine green distress ink on it.  I want to put a bow on it but I need to do some brain storming because I don't want it to be  forever.  I change my mind often and I want to to be able to change whenever I want.  I think its because I don't want to put my wreath away.  I can't even imagine trying to store it so that it wont get ruined.  So I want the bow to change with the seasons.  So I will update you later when I decide on what I'm doing.  So I most go I need to get some sleep I'm off to NYC in the morning for Christmas shopping.

Sneak peek Christmas Ornaments

Yesterday I spent the day with my amazing art friends. We discussed all sorts of topics. One of which was feeling comfortable in our skin (more so Art skin) and know who we are as an artist. For the first time in many years as I metioned in early posts I finally feel comfortable as an artist. Well after my fun day I stopped at ac moore to look for fun things to create for christmas presents. I would like for the most part to make all my christmas presents this year because I find them more meaningful. Well I found some fun stuff and came home and just started to plug away. I created some cute little christmas ornaments to give to friends and family and one of course for myself. So I will show mine that I made so you have an idea of what I have been up too. These were simple to make and a lot of fun at the same time. Pin It Now!
