Last weekend

I treated myself to a captured moments crop it will probably be the last one for awhile seeing that school has taken over every aspect of my life. I really can't wait for this semester to be over because its more stuff that I have to learn then stuff I want to learn.

So here are the cards I made while at the crop. I truly enjoyed the company, food and creative time. Of course felt a little guilty because I should have been doing some school work, but I have to find some balance between school, work and creative time at some point I'm sure ill get there.

Birthday card

I probably mentioned in my last post that one of my "niece's" birthday party was over the weekend, so on top of the paper dolls I made a birthday card for her of course. I used the new close to my heart cartridge Artiste which I love!!!! I also used the stamps from the cartridge set. The cupcake and inside saying which says "I hope your birthday is as sweet as you" from the birthday celebration set and then the image behind the cupcake is from kudos. I even decorated the envelope. The paper I used is old DCWV. I believe Artiste is going to be one of my most used cartridges.

Paper doll mania

Well I have been looking at the Paper Doll Teen Scene cartridge since it came out and trying to justify the purchase.  I finally broke down and bought it that is four new Cartridges in the last month or so.  I never purchase cartridges on my own.  I normally ask for them as gift for various occasions. I'm not regretting of course I have been making paper dolls likes its my job haha. So Thursday I decided that my "nieces" would love to have their own set of paper dolls so I set to making them each one style of doll so they could share them.  I cut out 8 of the 10 hair styles and made them look a likes. Then I cut out 10 outfits from mostly matching papers.  I laminated them and put velcro dots on the outfits and the dolls so they would be easy for the girls to use.  I also decorated boxes that they could store their dolls in and there big enough that I can add to their collection.  With three girls and two boys and 10 hair styles for each and 20 outfits the possibilities are endless.  Especially when you start playing with hair color and skin color or colors of the outfits! And when they get a little older I'll have them come over and make their own!

Stamp class: Super hero

Yesterday was my ctmh stamp class. I have been playing with ideas for the class for about a month and finalized them Monday night. I wanted something that could be used for father's day but at the same time that could be used for any man in the person making it's life or if not for father's day for a birthday or maybe even to be used to say thank you. So I cut "hero" on the cricut using art philosophy (which I mutilated on my gypsy to fit perfectly on the card) the I stamped the cityscape on the letters inked the edges in black and glued them over the patterned papers. I then stamped the super hero from the super powers stamp set in black and colored him in with markers. I popped him up with foam dots. A fairly simple card but it has a lot of pop. This was a paper pack I would have never purchased before the birth of my nephew. As soon as I saw it in my catalog I knew I would purchase it.
The third project was an altered peanut container I just though it was something fun a different and it could cute as part of a gift basket or a simple gift on its own.
I wish I took pictures of the ladies creations I always find it interesting because I give them the time to be creative or to do something on their own. They always surprise me. One of the girls made the card for her boyfriend in boot camp she gave the superhero cameo pants and used the speech bubble stamp and write "some superheros wear capes mine wears combat boots". It makes me smile knowing that she will be sending her man something cute and personal to boost his spirits.

June stamp club card #1

Well today I sat down after a long of working outside and started putting together the first card for my card class. It's funny how sometimes you get an idea and you still surprise yourself. I knew when I was ordering I wanted to show the ladies our pearl paint and how great it is. I used it in two ways on this card the first I painted a wood badge button with pearl paint tinted with Creme brûlée reinker. Then I used pearl paint and Creme brûlée and water in our spray pen to make my own glimmer mist.
Supplies used:
Florentine paper pack x7153B
Family love D1506
Just for you B1398
Wood badge buttons Z1703
Color ready seam binding ribbon Z1732
Create a shade pearl paint Z1039
Spray pens Z1380
Sponge daubers z697
Stazon timber brown ink Z1142

Super Secret Project #2

Well here it is super secret project number two.  A close "family" member went to prom yesterday and I made her a special 8x8 album for her photos.  She had asked for us to be there on her special day so I decided the an album would be a wonderful thank you.  I took special care to make sure the papers would match her dress as best as I could with some help from a local blogger Danielle Flanders.  She suggested this beautiful paper line from pinkpaislee called Spring jubilee.  She even set me some that she had already and as soon as I saw it in person I had to have more.  So I ordered a paper pack and some embellishments from twopeasinabucket.com.  My first purchase with them it was awesome!! So I played with my cricut and the paper, seam binding a cardstock and this album came together.  I'm pretty proud.

A thinking of you card

I have been making think of you cards because I'm the head of my motorcycle group's sunshine committee. This is just one I made recently. My second card I cheated a bit I had a card that said "grateful for you" I didn't really like it anymore so I stamped "thinking of you" on Creme brûlée card stock with outdoor denim ink and cut around it and adhered it to the card over grateful for you. I like it much better now.

May Stamp club cards

I'm always trying to come up with something new and fun for my stamp club to do. I saw this stamp set and Close to my heart did these really cute layouts using it 1 boy, 1 girl. This typically boy set becomes girly with a color scheme change and some bling. Of course it always helps that I loved this set since I opened the catalog and thought it would be adorable for my nephew. After making these cards I think it's just as great for girls especially those "tomboys", but I'm pretty sure any girl would love these cards. I started off with just plain 12x12 Kraft colored paper. I diecut it on my cricut using one of the card shaped on art philosophy (that I changed to be your standard size 4-1/4x5-1/2inch card. I then took the bone border stamp from the "roar" stamp set and stamped it multiple times in colonial white ink the I stamped my dinosaur in Pear ink(boy) or Smoothie ink (girl) and the sentiment in sunset (boy) or black (girl). My next thing I did was border the colonial white cardstock with Dutch blue (boy) or Tulips (girls). I then hand dyed the white embroidery thread with sunset ink and hand dyed white seam binding with smoothie ink. Add a button and your done. They came out pretty cute.

All the shapes were cut out from Art Philosophy, a child's year and mother's day banquet. Other supplies white seam binding, distress stickles in worn lipstick and antique linen and distress ink in old paper and vintage photo and an antique button.

Birthday card

I decided to play in the craft room today after putting up a new fence for the goats and wasting an hour or probably more on the computer. I sat at the table looked at magazines and then remember that I could really use some birthday cards. So far this is what I made. I cut the shoe out of my forever young cartridge and the background shape is from art philosophy cartridge I tweaked it with my gypsy. The paper is from making memories I have had it forever!

Thinking of you today.. card

So I made this card for someone special who is in the hospital. I've been playing with these paper for two days trying to make them into cards then today I remembered the latest edition of paper crafts had a great article on different materials to make flowers from. One stood out from the rest... Recycled paper bag flowers. So I cut up a paper bag from my last trip to the store and cut out flowers from Mother's day bouquet in varying sizes 3", 2.5", 2" and 1.5". The paper I used is from DCWV's rockstar pack the stamps used came from unity stamp company "thinking about you today.." and the stitch from an unmarked close to my heart set (which means it came in a special kit), other supplies include a brad from making memories, embossing power (pumpkin and hot pink) from hampton art, brown card stock from bazzill, bubble gum ink from close to my heart and foam squares. These recycled paper bag flowers are a lot of fun, but when cutting on your cricut be extra watchful. The mat didn't like the paper bag so I used painters tape to hold it down and pushed on the paper as it was cutting just to help it stay in place. A few petals ripped when cutting but I liked them a little ripped and tattered.

From drab to fab- little plates

I have been want to do this quick project with my cricut forever!!! I have been going in thrift shops looks for small plain white plates with gold around the edges. I have seen a few but nothing seemed worth it. Most of the time the price or quantity wasn't right. So this weekend as you know I went to a garage sale in the bins I found these not so great plates and the light bulb went off. My project can finally be done! I love them the only thing I didn't account for was how big the pattern in the center was but the worked out thank goodness.

Finished March little fat book page

I love this guy he came out too cute for words!!! He is more cutesy then I usually do so I feel like he's missing something, but I don't really want to add much more to him. Maybe some stickles a little later. I love my idea to make my own spring, so he bounces around on the page.

Create a critter cards

So the last couple days I have been making cards from the create a critter cricut cartridge. They are so fun and I have been looking at pun stamp sets from my pink stamper but just spent quite a bit of money and craft supplies and I have things I have to buy like adhesive, foam brushes and white card stock. So stamps will have to take a back seat. So after searching my collection of close to my heart and stampin up stamps and found a few that would work with the adorable animals diecuts. I then pick pattern paper to use for my cards and found card stock to match. Instead of just cutting out one image of each I decided use up full sheets of 12x12 paper. In the end I ended up with 12 3" owls, bears and dogs. I have to say I love them all.
