No playing

Since the last post I haven't been able to play and when I do I feel kinda guilty cause I have school work and cleaning to do. I'm hoping soon even if it just a card or two. I hope that everyone is doing well.

Just a little message to someone who probably doesn't even read my blog anymore. I miss you. Just thought you should know.

Took a break from school work..

So today I took a little break from school work to plan out my next card club class. I talked to the ladies about what they wanted to do as far as themes for cards and we decided that now until December we will do 1 Christmas card a month. Of course there is only one Christmas themed paper pack this catalog so I knew I had to get creative. I purchased my favorite paper pack from the current catalog La Belle Vie it's right up my alley. Vintage, French themed, and beautiful. I new that pairing it with the new glitter trim (self adhesive glitter trim), sliver glitter glitz and our chipboard snowflakes would make a beautiful Christmas card. It was a little challenging because I personally go with red, green and blue and brown for my Christmas cards, but I do love a challenge. And I think that I did pretty well. Now I'm thinking what other paper packs with non traditional colors can I make into Christmas cards. I have at least 1 more card to plan and a few detail to finish with this one. By the was the card itself and the slide off piece are from the Artiste cartridge I love so much. They are cut at 4 3/4and will fit in a 5x5 envelope.

My Vacation

Last week we packed up our motorcycles and head to our annual Red Knights convention in Gettysburg, PA. The trip there had a few bumps in the road (which included Our bike almost going through the side of the enclosed trailer thank God no damage to the custom paint) but we all made it safely. I think the most amazing thing to me was riding literally through the farmland that was the center of the battleground it was like taking a trip back in time aside from the monuments throughout the land. It was extremely interesting. We had a week of history, ghost stories and lots of laughs. We meet our brothers and sisters from chapters from all over the US, Canada, Sweden, Austria and Belgium. I enjoyed almost every minute of the trip. Everyday i grow more and more thankful for this group and the family that i have because of it. I heard the following poem at least twice during the course of last week. It hits home. Probably not in the way that it hits a firefighter, but being the daughter, girlfriend and sister to firefighters it hits in its own way. I guess I take for granted and sometimes forget that there is always a chance that I could get that phone call that every person dreads.

In Honor
Brother when you weep for me
Remember that it was meant to be
Lay me down and when you leave
Remember I'll be at your sleeve
In every dark and choking hall
I'll be there as you slowly crawl
On every roof in driving snow
I'll hold your coat and you will know
In cellars hot with searing heat
At windows where a gate you meet
In closets where young children hide
You know I'll be there at your side
The house from which I now respond
Is overstaffed with heroes gone
Men who answered one last bell
Did the job and did it well
As firemen we understand
That death's a card dealt in our hand
A card we hope we never play
But one we hold there anyway
That card is something we ignore
As we crawl across a weakened floor
For we know that we're the only prayer
For anyone that might be there
So remember as you wipe your tears
The joy I knew throughout the years
As I did the job I loved to do
I pray that thought will see you through

I could never imagine hearing that something happened to one of my loved ones when they were saving some else's life. I would be proud but
The Extended family local NY Chapter 3 and some of my favorite people who make me laugh
The Family aka a few of the members from NY chapter 12 they make me laugh too!

Vintage inspired cards

Well I received pink paislee mist able papers in my warehouse box and I was excited to start using it so I pulled out my tattered angels glimmer mist out and started playing. Both cards use the same piece for mist able paper I just used different color glimmer mist. I also played with my Tim holtz rose ribbon for the first time. I used distress stain to dye the roses to match the card. I then decided it needed bling but I didn't have any bling flourishes on hand so I took out my crafters workshop templates I bought forever ago and I just traced along a flourish to get a line to follow then placed bling I had on hand along that line. I'm loving these cards and one will be on its way to a friend who could use a pick me up. I hope you enjoy.

Pink paislee warehouse sale box

So I joined cricut circle and boy oh boy are they some enablers haha someone posted a link to pink paislee's warehouse sale. I clicked the link thought for maybe a whole second and hit buy. I got a haul of such fun stuff for a very good price. Now I have to get to creating because if I don't I will feel guilty for buying it and shoving all where I probably won't look at it again for who knows how long. I'm thinking I want some canvas now to make some sort of wall hanging out of the vintage vogue stuff. It would be pretty with pictures of my great grandmother. Her favorite color was purple. Now to find that perfect picture.

Some Halloween cards

My artiste cartridge put me in the Halloween mood. I love the bat shaped card and couldn't wait to make it. On top of that I was at Jonann's the other day and they had the new DCWV Halloween stack Bewitched I purchased the mat stack because I don't do a lot of Halloween layouts or cards for that matter. But the last couple days I have been on a roll.

My first shutter card

I decided to play again today. I did my mommy duty and gave penny a bath and I do still need to brush her out and clean her ears before her vet appointment tomorrow, but you know what they say about all work and no play! So I looked around for different card folds because I have never ventured out and tried too much as far as folds go. So I found directions for a shutter fold card and it was super easy and fun to decorate. I might be on my list for the card club to do of course I would cut and fold it for them as they have decided to call themselves "special". Only cause they don't always listen or follow my directions. Nothing different compared to an everyday teacher lol. So I hope you enjoy it. Im still playing with my Dotty for you paper from months back but the stamps and diecuts are from the new artiste cricut cartridge set. I used the birthday celebration stamp set that came with it. I didn't love the stamps that came with art philosophy as much as I love the ones that came with artiste!
