Not an Art Entry Just a Life Entry

As some of my close friends know I'm a Ferret Momma and very proud of it. It all start when I was a kid and my Dad's ferret came to live with us. The story is that before my dad and mom were together my dad had two ferrets Harley and Davidson. Well Davidson passed away and Dad moved some where he couldn't have Harley so she went to live with a friend. That friend at one point had to move to a place he couldn't have Harley so she came to live with us. She was my first Ferret experience I had never seen a ferret and didn't even know you could have such a cool pet (at the time you were supposed to have a license for them). Well Harley passed away after a while and we moved from place to place and I kind forgot about ferrets with having a dog then two dogs then a bird and some fish. Well in my senior year in high school I won $100 for a poem I wrote and I decided with my winnings I would buy this really cool cocktail at the local pet store. It was albino and my cocktail was lonely since the passing of her partner. Well the store wouldn't sell it to me cause it was ill and they wanted to make sure it was healthy before selling it. So I start wandering through the pet store and came to the glass encloser that they kept the ferrets in. And the enjoyment that I had with Harley came back when I saw them. One male jumped up at the window and it was love at first site. We bought Spunky and all the supplies and he came home with us. Well that same year I was bugging my parents about getting another one and close to Christmas they surprised me with Bandit a small but feisty female and the two became best buds. Well about 6 years later Spunky had a cut that just wouldn't go away he kept bugging it and starching at it and finally I decided to bring him to the vet. The vet said he had a tumor and that I could do A or B. Put him through treatment or put him down. Treatment was extremely expensive and painful for him and there was no guarantee. Well after seeing the vet I decided to get a second opinion I made an appointment for the next day. In the time between the two appointments Spunky took a huge turn for the worse. He couldn't eat, drink or got the bathroom. He just laid there and did nothing. Well we went the next appointment and the Doctor told us the tumor was the least of our worries. He now had a kidney stone blocking his urethra. She had never done the surgery on a ferret before, but was willing to try. Try... I knew what I was going to do, because the last thing I wanted was for him to go through some painful surgery with some lady that had no idea what she was doing. I made the choice to put him to sleep. I couldn't bare putting through all that pain for my benefit. I was crying so hard and had my parent who really don't like my ferrets crying too. I will never forget that day it was the week of my birthday. Anyway I had promised Bandit her brother would come home. In a sense I broke that promise. I didn't want to replace Spunky the idea came from my parents. They told me I had to bring someone home for Bandit or she would miss Spunky and go into depression and I might lose her too. So I went to the pet store and picked out another male I named Him JR or Spunky Jr to honor Spunky. And I think he has done a wonderful job taking care of Bandit. Well since then I have added to rescue ferret sister to the mix Sara and Stormy and I have quite the ferret family. Now I have been really debating because Bandit is sick she has a tumor that just effects her back legs and she lost all her hair. Its normal with ferrets and there is a surgery to correct it but it is not suggested for ferrets her age, so my only option is putting her to sleep which is very difficult its like losing her brother all over again and she lives a pretty normal life she sleeps, eats, plays like normal just has trouble getting around so for the moment I'm being selfish and keeping her alive, but as soon as she seems like she is suffering I will do what's right and put her to sleep. I gave her a bath today and did her nails as well as her brother and sisters. It just makes me question if I'm doing what is right for her or not. I hope I'm being a good mom. Sorry for this long winded post I just needed to vent. Pin It Now!

Hoping to be crafty today

Well Tabitha is coming over. For those of you just tuning in she is my bestie and Fellow "Tree Killer" as my lovely little cousin called us after seeing my scrapbook paper rack full of paper. We not only create amazing things together but we get each other in shopping trouble (Micheal's is our addiction). Anyway I hope to be productive today, but who knows. I have some picture developed some Gift ideas to possiblely make and sell on craig's list. We'll see. Off to get the rest of my supplies ready to go. I will hopefully be able to post pretty pictures later of my art. TTYL Pin It Now!

Mother Layout

Let me start off with this is one of my all time favorite pictures of my mom and I. I knew as soon as I saw it that it was going to be an 8x10 so I sent it to cvs along with some other childhood photos and it was the first layout I did yesterday at my Former boss lady and one of my favorite creative lady's house. I kept looking at it and knew something was missing that I didn't have with me so I put it aside and moved on to another layout. Then I this morning I went to Morethenjustscrapbooking.com and saw that they had a sketch challenge for this month that looked really close to my already partly done layout. So I put the sketch into paint and flipped a couple times to get something closer to my layout then added some key elements (the swirl from Tim Holtz after being inked and the flower and button from Prima Marketing). I pretty please with the final product!! Enjoy below are the original Sketch and the one I got from playing around.

Altered Book

I was hesitant on this project but I was convinced by a few of my fellow altered artist. So here is my spin on my Altered School Book Cover. It was oringally a blue book with a white binding. I think I did a good job. I though Graduation was a good subject to focus on. I'm sure the other girls in this swap did more general stuff and to be honest I was going to the same way till I looked at my school papers and noticed I didn't have that much school paper and had a lot of graduation stuff and I'm on a new kick use what you have. I have only bought cardstock in the last month, which I don't know when I'll get it because I ordered it from orintal trading company. Pin It Now!

I've been a little too busy to create

I hate when life gets like this. Busy busy busy. So today I'm working in my scrapbook room in a different way. I stripped it, so nothing is on the floor and now I'm cleaning the carpet. Sadly having a younger dog in the house and a older dog who was formerly abused. We still have accidents in the house and my scrapbook room has been the target of said accidents, so I borrowed a steam cleaner from my boyfriend and that is my focus for the day. Cleaning the scrapbook room rug. I can't wait to go in there without stepping in a puddle. Oh I also bought a baby gate so no more unattended dogs allowed in there. Only my cats it gives them a place to hangout without the threat of attack of Penny (our 1 year old beagel puppy). They enjoy sleeping in the window or in the middle of my creative mess on the table. Anyway time to get back to it. Enjoy a creative day for me cause I can't. Oh well. Pin It Now!

A very special gift

I'm proud to complete this. It is a special gift that I'm going to send to my grandparents in NC that I haven't seen in over 15 years. I just got back in touch with them a week ago and I thought this would be the perfect little gift that I could send so they can enjoy. It was all done with Basic Grey Papers, and the album is about 3 1/4x 3 1/2 very small but perfect to mail. It is from Close to My Heart. Pin It Now!

Just for Tabitha

Okay Tabitha is complaining she wants to see something new. So here it is... My little fat book page I'm not sure if I would call it finished but who knows what I think it needs. This was done as an inspiration for my newest swap on our Artist Trading Card Group. All the stuff that was used was from Grapic 45 a beautiful paper company found at a local stamp store Stampassion. I don't get there often, but when I do I normal get stamps, but this time I was so struck by this paper I just had to get it. Of course I glamed it up with some stickles and some real vintage ribbon I got from my friend Berta. Now I'm just looking at it thinking is there anything else it needs?? I don't want to over do it, but we will see. enjoy Tabitha and of course I value your opinion Does it need something?? Pin It Now!
